First Five with Eva & Franco Mattes
{category_name}Eva and Franco Mattes are the Brooklyn based artist behind the website 0100101110101101.ORG. Renowned for their intrusions in public media, their work is precariously balanced on the edge of legal, ethical and social boundaries. Among the pioneers of the Net Art movement, over the last fifteen years the Mattes have manipulated video games, Internet technologies, feature films and street advertising.
Their art has been featured at the Venice Biennale (2001), the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis (2001), Manifesta, Frankfurt (2002), the New Museum, New York (2005), PS1, New York (2009), Performa, New York (2007 and 2009) and Site Santa Fe (2012).
Here are Eva and Franco's first five...
"The place where all memes are born"
"Best online art curatorial platform"
"This is a bit awkward 'cause we run this festival... but the website has a great collection of talks by our favorite living artists"
"The online archive of net art"
"I love second hand experiences in general, but in particular for art shows. When you see pictures first or people tell you about an exhibition and you don't necessarily have to go and see it to talk about it. Agma gives such first class second hand experiences"
